My own set up for shooting the liftoff from the press site consisted of a Canon EF 800mm Æ’/5.6 lens with my Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III body attached. In parallel, on the same mount, I had a Canon 5D Mark II shooting HD video through a Canon EF 500 mm Æ’/4 lens. Here the space shuttle Atlantis can be seen framed dead center between the two lenses, whose clarity and magnification would help me visually jump the three-mile distance to the launch pad.
