The space shuttle Atlantis sits atop Launch Complex 39A the night before it is scheduled to launch into orbit for a final rendezvous with the International Space Station. This image combines three different exposures to capture the extreme luminance range of this scene, and exists despite the aggressive attempts of several hundred blood-sucking mosquitoes to keep me from making the longest exposures.
